Victorian Houses, Flats and Everything Between
Wicker Park grew up around a four-acre park after the 1871 fire, when residents built large brick and stone houses in Victorian Gothic and Italianate styles. Many were later split into flats and rooming houses, then restored as single-family homes starting in the early 1980s. The City's Wicker Park District, designated in 1991, protects some of the finest examples on Pierce and on Hoyne, once nicknamed Beer Baron Row. Across the wider West Town community area, about two-thirds of homes sit in buildings of two to nine units. Whatever your layout, your trainer brings the equipment the program needs and fits the session to the room you have.
The Park on Damen and The 606 Overhead
The neighborhood's namesake park, at 1425 N. Damen, covers 4.74 acres and dates to 1870, when Charles G. and Joel H. Wicker gave the land to the city. It has an athletic field, basketball courts and a fieldhouse with a gym. At the north edge, The 606 runs 2.7 miles along Bloomingdale Avenue from Ashland to Ridgeway as an elevated trail built for biking, running and strolling. Either one works for an outdoor session, and partner or small-group training lets friends share a trainer.
Blue Line Stops at Damen and Division
Two Blue Line stations serve the neighborhood. Damen, at 1558 N. Damen, first opened in 1895, and its platform runs above the North and Damen intersection. Division, at 1200 N. Milwaukee, connects with CTA buses #9, #X9, #56 and #70. Sessions can take place in your home, in your building's fitness center if it has one, or at your office if a lunchtime workout fits better. We also offer nutrition counseling for clients who want food support alongside training.

Wicker Park personal training FAQ
Can a session happen on The 606 instead of indoors?
Yes. A trainer can meet you outdoors in a nearby park, and The 606's ground-level access points include Churchill Field Park at 1825 N. Damen. Your trainer brings what the workout needs.
Is Wicker Park the same as Bucktown or Ukrainian Village?
No. The Encyclopedia of Chicago places it in the West Town community area between Division Street and Bloomingdale Avenue, with Bucktown to the north and Ukrainian Village south of Division between Damen and Western. We train clients in all three.
My street is a permit-parking zone. Can a trainer park there?
During posted hours a car on a zoned street needs a matching zone sticker or a daily guest pass. Residents of the zone can buy 24-hour guest passes in sheets of 15 from the City Clerk.
