A Neighborhood Built on Former Rail Yards
The neighborhood is new. The site was Illinois Central Railroad rail yards, then a nine-hole golf course from 1994 to 2001, before redevelopment under a single master plan began in 2002. The Shoreham, finished in 2005, was the first completed apartment building, and The Tides followed in 2008. With homes stacked in towers, a trainer can work in your building's fitness center when management allows, or in your unit when it doesn't. The Shoreham, The Tides and Coast each hosted our resident fitness programs at one time or another.
Lake Shore East Park at the Center
The master plan put a large park at the lowest level of the development, and the developers donated it to the Chicago Park District in 2004. Lake Shore East Park at 450 E. Benton Place covers 5.09 acres with a walking path, gardens, open space, a playground, a dog-friendly area and an interactive water feature. It makes an easy outdoor session: loops of the path to warm up, open space for mobility work, then back upstairs. Need more room? Maggie Daley Park is just south across Randolph Street.
Across the New Eastside, Including Illinois Center
Lakeshore East is the newer piece of the New Eastside, which also takes in Illinois Center and stretches west to Michigan Avenue. Streets here run on three levels, and new pedway segments tie parts of the district into the Chicago Pedway. Wherever you live or work in the New Eastside, a trainer comes to your home, your building's gym or your office. Beyond one-on-one sessions, we offer partner and small-group training, group fitness classes and in-home massage by licensed therapists.
