Two BNSF stations, one with Amtrak
La Grange has two stops on Metra's BNSF line, both listed as accessible. LaGrange Road station, at 25 W. Burlington, is also served by Amtrak and by Pace routes 302 and 330, and Stone Avenue station sits at 701 W. Burlington Ave. That rail access works in your favor if your week mixes a commute with remote days: a trainer can meet you at a downtown office on days you ride in and at home on the days you do not, with virtual sessions available when you travel.
Salt Creek Woods and the trail toward the zoo
Salt Creek flows through La Grange Park, and the Forest Preserves of Cook County protect land along its banks. Salt Creek Woods Nature Preserve in La Grange Park covers 245 acres of oak savanna, oak-hickory woodland and creekside floodplain forest, and was dedicated as an Illinois Nature Preserve in 1965. The unpaved section of the Salt Creek Trail runs through its middle. Nearby Brezina Woods is a trail access point: from there the paved trail runs about 3 miles east to Brookfield Zoo and about 4 miles west to the DuPage County line, enough distance for walking or running intervals with your trainer.
Older houses and mid-size apartment buildings
In La Grange itself, CMAP's 2026 snapshot counts about 68 percent of homes as detached houses, 36 percent built before 1940, and a notable share of mid-size buildings: almost 9 percent of homes are in 10- to 19-unit buildings and about 7 percent in buildings of 20 or more units. La Grange Park is similar, with about two-thirds detached houses and 12.5 percent in buildings of 20 or more units. Either way, sessions can happen in your living space or in your building's fitness room where allowed, and the trainer brings the equipment.
