Three Metra stops and the neighborhoods around them
Brookfield grew around the Chicago, Burlington & Quincy Railroad. Developer S. E. Gross opened the Grossdale subdivision in 1889, and his first building there was a train station, according to the Encyclopedia of Chicago. Metra's BNSF line still stops three times in the village: Hollywood at Hollywood and Riverside avenues, Brookfield at 8858 Burlington Ave., and Congress Park at Burlington Avenue and Dubois Boulevard. Hollywood began as its own subdivision in 1893, and Congress Park took its name around 1905. Whichever stop is closest to you, the trainer comes to your door.
Training in Brookfield's bungalows and Victorians
The Encyclopedia of Chicago describes a housing stock that mixes Victorian homes from the late 1800s, 1920s bungalows and postwar houses. CMAP's 2026 snapshot counts about 76 percent of Brookfield homes as single-family detached, with a median build year of 1953, and roughly 19 percent in two- to nine-unit buildings. A bungalow basement or a cleared front room gives a trainer enough space to work, and the equipment arrives with them. If a hard week leaves you sore, we also offer in-home massage therapy by licensed therapists.
Salt Creek Trail from the woods across from the zoo
Brookfield Zoo sits on land Edith Rockefeller McCormick gave to the Forest Preserve District in 1919, and forest preserve trails start right across the street. Brookfield Woods, across 31st Street from the zoo, is an access point for the Salt Creek Trail system, a 16.4-mile network of paved and unpaved trails. From Brookfield Woods, the paved trail runs just over 7 miles west to the DuPage County line, passing Salt Creek Nature Preserve and Bemis Woods. A trainer can meet you at the trailhead for a session outside.

Which Metra stop is the Zoo Stop?
The Village of Brookfield calls Metra's Hollywood station, at Hollywood and Riverside avenues, the Hollywood Ave./Zoo Stop. It is on the BNSF line, one stop east of Brookfield station.
Is Congress Park a separate town?
No. Congress Park is part of Brookfield. The name dates to around 1905, when S. E. Gross's West Grossdale subdivision was renamed, and Metra still uses it for the station at Burlington Avenue and Dubois Boulevard.
