Acre Lots, Room to Move
Inverness was planned for space. Developer Arthur T. McIntosh began assembling farmland here in 1926, roads were laid out to follow the rolling ground, and the village set a minimum lot size of one acre. Nearly every home is a house: CMAP counts 85.5 percent detached and 12.5 percent attached single-family units. Many homes date from the 1970s and 1980s, when the village history notes houses grew larger. A lower level, a garage or a patio can all work for training, and your trainer arrives with the equipment the session needs.
Deer Grove Across Dundee Road
Dundee Road forms the village's northern edge, and on its far side lies Deer Grove, which the Forest Preserves of Cook County call the county's first forest preserve. Its nearly 2,000 acres hold about 15.5 miles of trail. The Red Paved Loop at Deer Grove-East covers 2.8 flat miles, good for steady cardio, while the unpaved Yellow Loop from Deer Grove-West runs more than 5 miles over hilly ground for clients who want a harder outdoor day. Trails are open year-round from sunrise to sunset.
Four Park Districts, One Village
The village website lists four park districts serving residents: Inverness, Barrington, Barrington Hills and Palatine. The Inverness Park District's own sites are close to home. North Park on Highland Road has a walking path and an outdoor fitness pad, Maggie Rogers Park on Ela Road has a walking path and courts, and South Park on Thompsons Way adds an educational loop. A trainer can meet you at any of them for an outdoor session, then move back inside when the weather turns.
